Elizabeth Woman Pleads Guilty In Mortgage Fraud Scheme

DENVER (AP) – A 38-year-old Colorado woman has pleaded guilty to working with two other people in a mortgage fraud scheme.

The U.S. attorney’s office for Colorado says Kimberly White of Elizabeth pleaded guilty in federal court last week to one count of wire fraud. She faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison when sentenced Sept. 30.

A federal grand jury indicted White in May 2010.

Federal prosecutors say over four months in 2005, White participated in a scheme to defraud various financial institutions and commercial mortgage lenders involving 13 Denver-area properties.

Two others were sentenced to about nine months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $1.2 million in restitution each.
