Dispensary Opponents Face Petition Deadline In Fort Collins
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Marijuana dispensary opponents in Fort Collins are facing a deadline for gathering signatures for a ban on medical pot shops in the city.
The Coloradoan reports that opponents of dispensaries in Fort Collins need to gather about 4,200 signatures by Tuesday to get the proposed ordinance before city council.
If the signatures are gathered and verified, Fort Collins officials could then adopt an ordinance to ban the centers or refer the question to voters in a special election in November.
Fort Collins has 21 licensed medical marijuana businesses.
The city council in March approved an ordinance allowing existing businesses that did not meet all of the city's zoning rules for marijuana facilities to continue operating.
