Sketch Released Of Alleged Boulder Sex Assault Suspect, Search On For Witness

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Boulder police have released a sketch they hope will lead to the arrest of sexual assault suspect.

Police say an 18-year-old woman was attacked early Saturday morning near 28th and Baseline. The victim says she was walking alone at about 4:30 am when a man grabbed her and assaulted her.

The victim's arm was broken several weeks ago and she broke it again during the assault.

On Monday police said they believe there may have been a witness to the attack and hope that person could help lead them to a suspect. They believe the young man, described as blonde in his 20s, may not have known that a sexual assault was taking place. Watch Kathy Walsh's report in the video clip below.

The suspect was described as being a light skinned black man with glasses, green eyes and curly light brown hair. He was 6 feet tall, with a medium build, and about 18 to 22 years old.

Police said they are hoping tips will lead them to the suspect.

Several women CBS4 interviewed over the weekend said the attack has them thinking more about safety. Watch Jennifer Brice's report in the video clip below.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Boulder police at (303) 441-1974 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at crimeshurt.com.
