Debris Flows Close Roads In Fourmile Canyon

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Debris flows from heavy rain have forced officials to close several roads in the Fourmile Canyon burn area. The road closures include Gold Run at Dixon, Fourmile between Logan Mill and Ingram Gulch, Lee Hill at Lefthand Canyon, Lee Hill at Old Stage, Bow Mountain at Lee Hill Carriage Hills above 1178, Lee Hill at Broadway.

Boulder Creek is expected to rise to approximately 1800 cubic feet per second, which will create flooding in low lying areas around the creek. Sirens were activated to warn residents of the flooding and to stay out of low lying areas. People living in Married Student Housing around 17th and Arapahoe in Boulder should stay clear of flash flooding in the area.

The Fourmile fire burned more than 6,000 acres and destroyed 169 homes in September 2010, the most destructive fire in Colorado's history.
