‘Carmen’ (credit: CBS)
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – To many, the opera is a night of beautiful music and colorful costumes. But to others, it’s a night of “singing soap opera” — a blend of both high art and human faults.
CBS4 Critic at Large Greg Moody is one of the latter — loving opera for all it really is.
“The Central City Opera hauls its production of ‘Carmen’ down to the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre — Fiddler’s Green — in Englewood,” Moody said. “To me it’s better to perform ‘Carmen’ outdoors, because that makes it easier for all the steam to escape.”
