Vehicle Of Man Found Murdered Located In Denver

HUDSON, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have a new lead in a murder case involving the death of a man from Commerce City.

On Saturday the body of Armando Mata-Magallanes, 30, was spotted near the railroad tracks between Lockbuie and Hudson in Weld County, near Interstate 76.

Investigators found the car belonging to the victim in Denver on Sunday.

Police have been scouring the area in Weld County looking for evidence. They say the man's body may have been there for as many as 12 hours before it was discovered.

"The distances could be as much as 50 yards up to just a few yards between there. It's variety of ground -- short grass, tall grass; certainly some runoff ditches and swampy areas in and along there," Margie Martinez with the Weld County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim was shot to death, but investigators are unsure if he was shot where he was found or before and then dumped there.

Mata-Magallanes had been reported missing Friday in Adams County.
