Teenage Boy Involved In Shooting In Southern Colorado

WALSENBURG, Colo. (CBS4) - A teenage boy is recovering in the hospital after getting hurt in a series of events Thursday morning in southern Colorado that included a crash and a shooting.

It started in Alamosa after the 14-year-old reportedly drove off in his parents' car and was spotted by officers. His parents had reported that the car was stolen.

A police effort to try to stop the car began, and his car was tracked down Highway 160 all the way to Walsenburg. There, the vehicle the teen was driving allegedly crashed into a Huerfano County deputy's cruiser.

Shots were fired at or near the scene of the crash.

It wasn't clear if the boy was the only person who was hurt in the series of events, and it isn't clear who fired the shots at the scene, although reports indicated at least one police officer was involved.

Police closed streets in Walsenburg near the crime scene for several hours.
