High Wind Reported Before Fatal Adams County Plane Crash
DENVER (AP) - Witnesses have told federal investigators that a small plane banked steeply to the left in high winds before it crashed in suburban north Denver, killing the sole person on board.
The single-engine Cessna R182 crashed and burned in a field on June 29, killing 41-year-old Salil Sinha of Marshfield, Wis.
A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board cites witnesses as saying the plane was flying low and its wings were dipping up and down. The witnesses say the winds had just kicked up.
The NTSB report was released Thursday. It doesn't speculate on the cause of the crash.
The plane had taken off from Front Range Airport, a small facility just southeast of Denver International Airport. The report doesn't say where the pilot intended to go.
