Man Charged In Dog Stabbing
DENVER (CBS4)- A man has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, for allegedly stabbing a puppy. Matthew Weatherspoon, 19, is accused of stabbing a puppy several times in the head and face after the bulldog bit him.
The puppy's name is Diamond. The six-month-old American Bulldog was rushed to Alameda East Veterinary Hospital Monday morning after a passerby found the puppy.
"She essentially received reconstructive surgery not unlike what you would find in a human hospital," said Alameda East Veterinary Hospital spokeswoman Lauren Emil.
She suffered from severe lacerations to her face, neck, abdomen and chest.
"You can't help but have a case like this to pull your heartstrings. She's such a young dog," said Emil. "It seems like Diamond should live a normal life as she recovers from her physical wounds."
Diamond is not available for adoption at this time.
Weatherspoon is scheduled to appear in court on July 6.
