Former High School Teacher Arrested On Charges Of Sexual Assault On A Child

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4)- A former teacher with the Douglas County School District has been arrested on charges that he sexually assaulted a former female student who was 17 years old at the time of the incident.

Frank Lavoie, 32, of Highlands Ranch, was arrested on Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in 2009. At the time, Lavoie worked as an English teacher at Mountain Vista High School.

Lavoie was continuously employed by the district beginning on August 8, 2007 and tendered his resignation on April 25, 2011.

Lavoie has been charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Detectives are asking anyone who has information about additional victims, or any inappropriate conduct by Frank Lavoie, to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Dave Weaver 303-660-7537.

Hope Douglas County school district did not know about his behavior with these young ladies (17 year old). This would be a big lawsuit. If this teacher is convicted, he will goto prison as a sexual predator. This could be your daughter next!

    Sexiest mug shot ever.

this guy was my teacher in 12th grade 2006. He was always all over the girls and vice versa. Glad he finally got caught

  • Tamara

This man obviously has a serious problem. To be 32 and sexually interacting with students who are in their teens is really sick!

I personally had Mr. LaVoie as my English teacher when I attended Green Run High School. I graduated in 2004. Despite what this so-called propaganda, Mr. LaVoie is a very caring teacher and takes pride in his students. He is not an easy teacher. In fact, he wanted his students to become more involved with their studies. I remember him telling us that we need to know that budgeting our finances is going to be key to survive college. He has given good advice and he was always FAIR and he was always ENCOURAGING. I KNOW he definitely has a good heart. All these people that are commenting about this and stirring up a commotion need to understand that there’s more to the story than what we know. So do not be quick to judge. I’m not condoning any type of sexual interactions that teachers have with students, but I just want people to know that he is a good person. I think the flaw behind his situation is that he is a young decent looking male. I know plenty of females I went to school with who would agree that he is attractive. And remember, some females in high school think they are grown. So you don’t know if it could have been the other way around. The female student could have been seducing him. I know we can all speculate on what may have really happened, but I’ll say this once AGAIN, DO NOT BE TOO QUICK TO JUDGE. It’s sad that he is in this type of predicament…..

I had him as a teacher recently, and where the heck is the person you’re talking about? Encouraging? What? I feel bad that I’m having a Lavoie roast right now, but hey maybe he shouldn’t sexually offend people, especially kids.

I’m sorry, but even if girls in high school think they are mature and “grown”, as you put it, they are not. There are plenty of good looking teachers out there who are professional enough to not get involved and interact with students on an intimate level. If you are a teacher, no matter what age you are, you are not suppose to give in to these “grown” high school students. Saying someone sexually assaulted you is a very hard thing to do. Even if you were willing, at the age of 16, the teacher is as well. If you have your own child, and he or she has an intimate relationship with there teacher, would you be okay with it? Even if your child thinks he/she is grown? And also, it takes a strong person to admit to something as embarrassing as this. That you had a relationship with your teacher, a trusting person with authority. Not many people have the courage to admit to something like this and I’m sure she has to go through a lot of turmoil with her family. So to sticking up for a possible sexual offender is incomprehensible.

The truth is Frank RAPED this girl. When you say “I will kill your family” if you tell anyone, that is RAPE, and he will be going to jail for a LONG time. The fact is, when the victim is underage, this TERRIBLE crime is labeled as Sexual Assault (in person of trust) rather then RAPE! He did this to MANY girls which will be brought up in trial too.

This is EXACTLY the image rapists portray; incomprehensibly good to the public, loving, caring, doing good to the public, so that no one would believe this happens, putting in further fear into victims. You defending him is ignorant and wrong.

Without knowing the full extent of the situation, anyone making assmptions here is only underlining their own lemming mentality. Rather sad. This is a pending case, so an internet news story will not be privy to the full details, and already assuming guilt is just wrong and unAmerican. But who cares if a good man’s name is slandered so long as we have good gossip to dish, right?

Unfortunate, I had a daughter at Vista who graduated in 2008 and I know at least one of the girls. It’s true.
