Report: Nene Will Opt Out Of Contract

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver Nuggets keep saying their center Nene isn't going anywhere, but apparently Nene has other ideas.

According to the Denver Post, the 6-foot-11 Brazilian has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract.

Nene has until the end of the day Thursday to make it official.

Nene is due to make $12 million with the Nuggets next season, and the Nuggets were hoping to sign him to a long term contract.

If he opts out he will become a free agent and could sign with any team he wishes who gives him an offer.

Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri told CBS4 Wednesday night the team is still actively negotiating with Nene's agent.

Nene was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2002 and then acquired by the Nuggets soon afterwards. He has been with Denver for his whole career.
