Jury Hears Lawsuit Over Ski Train Dispute

DENVER (AP) - A federal jury is hearing a lawsuit over a failed attempt to engineer a comeback for a ski train from Denver to Winter Park.

Iowa Pacific Holdings contends Amtrak broke a promise to supply a crew to run the train during the 2009-2010 ski season, causing Iowa Pacific to lose more than $1 million.

Amtrak says Iowa Pacific failed to get the proper insurance. Iowa Pacific contends Amtrak decided late to raise the amount of insurance that was required.

On Wednesday, an Amtrak executive told jurors the company never had a firm agreement.

Iowa Pacific was trying to revive a service that had been offered for about 20 years by the Anschutz Corp.
