Woman Pleads Guilty To Charges In Connection With Teen Murder Case

DENVER (CBS4)- A woman charged in connection with the murder of a teenager has pleaded guilty. Jacquelyn Perea, 29, pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unlawful possession of marijuana.

On Oct. 22, 2010, Perea took Alicia Martinez, 16, to a party in the 4100 block of Decatur Street and later left her there. Perea reported Martinez missing the following day. Her body was found on Oct. 24.

Perea was sentenced on Monday to a two-year supervised deferred judgement for the contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge. She was sentenced to two years of supervised probation for the possession of marijuana charge.

If Perea successfully completes probation, the contributing count will be dismissed from her record. One of the conditions of her guilty plea is that Perea cooperate with the prosecution on cases involving co-defendants.

Edward Romero, 27, is accused of killing Martinez. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges.

After the killing, Romero offered to help friends and relatives pass out filers asking for help finding the woman.
