Hiker Fell To Her Death On Mount Evans
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Rescue crews said a woman fell while hiking Mount Evans on Saturday morning. She apparently died from her injuries.
The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 12:11 p.m. from someone who saw a woman in her 20s fall from the sawtooth between Mt. Evans and Mt. Bierstadt at about 11:45 a.m.
The woman, later identified as Mary Bowles, 50, of Golden was declared deceased at 2:43 p.m.
A total of 24 responders from the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, the Alpine Rescue Team, Boulder County's Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, the Summit County Rescue Group and a Flight for Life helicopter are on scene for the recovery process.
Mt. Evans is one of Colorado's famed 14ers. Its summit is 14,240 feet.
