Soaring Prices Urge Frontier Airlines To Buy More Fuel-Efficient Planes
DENVER (CBS4)- Frontier Airlines has signed a letter of intent to buy new, more fuel-efficient planes. The airline's parent company, Republic, has agreed to buy 40 Airbus A-319 NEOs and 40 A-320 NEOs.
NEO stands for New Engine Option, which used 15 percent less fuel than Frontier's current Airbus planes.
Republic has been looking to cut costs because of soaring fuel expenses. Last week, the airline won the approval of pilots to cut some of their benefits.
