Program Increases Fathers Paying Child Support

DENVER (AP) - Programs to promote fatherhood responsibility for children in Colorado is being credited for an increase in fathers paying child support.

According to a study by the Colorado Department of Human Services released Sunday, a federal program that distributed $10 million in federal funds helped 2,500 dads in one of 63 programs take a greater emphasis in the lives of their children.

According to the Denver Post, the initiative has worked over the past five years to encourage and assist fathers to become reliable emotional and financial fixtures in their childrens' lives.

According to the department, more than $5 million to fatherhood programs run by county agencies as well as faith groups across the state. The remaining federal funds went to pay staff and to train workers
