Driver In Bike Accident Previously Cited

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A dump-truck driver involved in a fatal bicycle accident near Boulder was convicted for his role in a road rage incident with a cyclist in the same area two years ago.

The Colorado State Patrol identified the driver Monday as 45-year-old Christopher G. Loven of Boulder County. The cyclist was 73-year-old Eugene Philip Howrey of Boulder.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Loven was ticketed in 2009 on suspicion of reckless endangerment after a cyclist said Loven used his truck to push him into oncoming traffic. The highway patrol said it was the same driver.

Court records show Loven pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to probation and community service in the case.

Loven did not return a phone message seeking comment.
