Winds Cause More Issues For Colorado Firefighters Battling 2 Blazes

WESTCLIFFE, Colo. (CBS4) - Erratic, gusty winds are hampering efforts of firefighters to get two wildfires burning in Colorado under control.

The Duckett Fire is burning on about 6 square miles in the southern Colorado mountains. More evacuations were ordered on Thursday because of strong winds that fueled the fire.

The fire started on Sunday and is only 10 percent contained. Authorities suspect the blaze is human-caused.

Another wildfire burning along the New Mexico-Colorado border has increased in size. The Track Fire has grown to about 27,000 acres -- roughly 42 square miles. The fire is 25 percent contained.

Red flag warnings are up with high winds expected.

Fire crews are now working to strengthen containment lines on the north and east sides of the fire.
