1st Of 3 Ex-Soldiers Sentenced In Pot Bust

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - One of three Fort Carson soldiers police say locked themselves in while trying to rob a medical marijuana dispensary in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to two years of probation and 116 days he's already served in jail.

The Gazette reports that 23-year-old Ramone Hollins was sentenced Thursday. The former soldier and two others, Cory Young and Darius Thomas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary.

Authorities say the three were arrested last November when they accidentally locked themselves in a dispensary during a burglary attempt.

Officers say they were on an unrelated call around 2 a.m. when they heard someone banging on glass inside the dispensary. They say the men claimed they planned to destroy the marijuana.

District Judge Scott Sells says he doesn't believe the three were out to "save the community of Colorado Springs."
