Fire Burning In Teller County Forces Evacuations

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Some people have been forced from their homes because of a fire burning on the Teller/Park County line on Wednesday. The fire is burning near County Road 11 south of Wrights Reservoir.

Residents and animals have been evacuated from the Navajo Mountain subdivision. The Bear Trap Ranch subdivision is on standby for possible evacuation. Fifteen homes are threatened. There are at least 50 homes in the area.

The Fourmile Community Church is serving as a temporary shelter for evacuees. The Pikes Peak Red Cross is helping feed people who have been forced from their homes.

The fire has grown to 50 acres in size. No structures have been destroyed by the fire Wednesday evening.

Firefighters have not determined what caused the fire.
