LA JUNTA, Colo. (AP) — Officials say at least four wildfires are burning in southeastern Colorado, including one at Fort Carson’s Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site which has scorched at least 39 square miles.

Base spokesman Randy Tisor said Wednesday that another fire on the site has burned about 3,500 acres.

Tisor said the smaller fire is burning on the maneuver site as well as U.S. Forest Service land in Las Animas County.

Fire spokeswoman Jessica Tillapaugh says another fire in southeastern Colorado near La Junta has reached an estimated 9,000 acres and is 10 percent contained. Three structures are threatened and have been evacuated.

Tillapaugh said another fire in Las Animas County is about 2,500 acres and 90 percent contained. Three structures are threatened, but none have been destroyed.
