Completion Of FasTracks Project Improves Sheridan Boulevard

DENVER (CBS4) - All lanes of Sheridan Boulevard are now reopened and the ride is less bumpy thanks to FasTracks construction.

Sheridan was closed between 10th and 14th avenues over the weekend to finish work on a new bridge. Closures had been in place the past 15 months.

The new construction means Sheridan is now elevated for those four blocks so the new light rail line can pass underneath. That not only helps light rail, but drivers as well.

"This new hill-free stretch of Sheridan will be much safer for cars and pedestrian traffic, so it's very exciting to see this completed for the community and for the efficiency of train travel through this area," Scott Reed with the Regional Transportation District said.

The new construction also means there are 10-foot sidewalks on both sides of Sheridan.

The work wrapped up several months ahead of schedule.
