Deadly Jump Off Fraternity Balcony Results In Summons

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- More than a month after a University of Northern Colorado student died as a result of injuries he suffered when he jumped off his fraternity house balcony, one man has been summoned for providing alcohol to a minor.

Ross Higuchi, 18, died at North Colorado Medical Center on April 19. Higuchi hit his head when he landed on the ground after jumping.

Friday, the Weld County District Attorney's Office formally filed one count of providing alcohol to a minor, a class one misdemeanor, against Kyle Riley, 22, of Longmont.

Riley allegedly provided alcohol at the party at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house where Higuchi jumped off the balcony. Riley will be issued a summons. His first court date has not been set.

Higuchi was a freshman at UNC. He graduated from Smoky Hill High School in May 2010. Friends say he was a kicker for the football team and a varsity wrestler. Delta Tau Delta said Higuchi joined the fraternity in October.
