Police Arrest Mail Theft Suspect
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver have arrested the man they believe is responsible for breaking into mailboxes and stealing the contents. Michael Edward Shaw was arrested in Longmont on Wednesday.
Members of the Denver Police Fugitive Unit and Fugitive Location and Apprehension Group received a tip that led them to the area where Shaw, 31, was arrested. Police said he had several stolen items on his person at the time of his arrest.
Shaw is being held at the Boulder County Jail for investigation of burglary, criminal trespass and possible federal charges.
Police believe Shaw broke into mailboxes and stole the contents in two locations on May 17, 195 North Jackson Street, east of the Cherry Creek Mall and at 770 Albion Street.
