Autopsy Inconclusive In Doctor's Triathlon Death

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say an autopsy performed on a doctor who died while swimming during a weekend triathlon showed no clear-cut reason why the 42-year-old man passed away.

Stacy Clodfelder of the Weld County Coroner's Office says the office is waiting on toxicology and other tests after Sunday's autopsy. She says the tests could take up to six weeks.

Dr. Michael Wiggins of Fort Collins was found floating face down Saturday in Windsor Lake, where he was competing in the Pelican Fest Triathlon. He was nearing the area where competitors emerge after a half-mile swim when people in a safety canoe spotted him.

Clodfelder says Wiggins had been diagnosed with an abnormal heart rhythm four years ago and had been treating it.
