Northern Colorado Economy Plan Suggests Backing Reservoirs
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- A statement on northern Colorado's priorities for economic development suggests lobbying for a plan to build reservoirs north of Greeley and Fort Collins, but the city of Fort Collins has expressed concerns about that plan.
Gov. John Hickenlooper has been asking regions around the state to submit economic development plans. A statement for Larimer and Weld counties suggests lobbying for the Northern Integrated Supply Project, which proposes building two reservoirs to supply northern Colorado.
In 2008, the city of Fort Collins questioned whether the project, as outlined then, would reduce flows on the Cache la Poudre (kash-luh-POO'-der) River and require the city to upgrade its water and wastewater treatment facilities.
The Coloradoan reports City Manager Darin Atteberry was planning to send Hickenlooper a letter outlining the city's concerns.
