Denver Police Search For Suspect In Mailbox Thefts

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police would like the public's help identifying a suspect in mailbox thefts.

Sonny Jackson with Denver police said on May 17 the suspect entered the apartment building at 195 South Jackson Street. He was caught on video surveillance cameras unscrewing light bulbs in the foyer. Police believe he was trying to conceal the crime.

"The suspect pried open the main door to the community mailbox with an unknown object. Once the door was opened the suspect had access to over 20 individual mailboxes," Jackson said in a statement. "The suspect then used a plastic garbage pail that was in the foyer to carry the mail away."

The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall to 6-foot-3, about 195 pounds and a shaved head. His age range is not known.

Anyone with information is asked to call Denver police at (720) 913-2000. Remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-STOP (7867). Text to CRIMES (274637) then title DMCS and enter the message or send an e-mail to metro-denvercrimestoppers.com.
