Wheat Ridge Doctor Accused Of Illegal Drug Rx

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (AP) - A doctor with an office in Wheat Ridge has been arrested on accusations that he took cash in exchange for writing illegal prescriptions for the narcotic oxycodone.

Dr. Kevin R. Clemmer, 57,  of Evergreen, his former assistant and two others were arrested Monday. The U.S. Attorney's Office announced the arrests Tuesday.

Clemmer faces 57 charges of knowingly and intentionally distributing, dispensing, and possessing with intent to distribute and dispense oxycodone outside the scope of professional practice and not for a legitimate purpose. In addition, Clemmer faces forfeiture of a 1999 Lincoln Continental, a Dodge Durango, two properties, gold coins, silver and other collectibles seized by authorities.

The other three people arrested face similar possession and distribution charges.

Clemmer's attorney C.J. Pollara did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
