Thousands Face Chilly, Rainy Weather During Colfax Marathon

DENVER (CBS4) - Thousands of runners faced the chilly weather for the Colfax Marathon Sunday morning.

The race started and ended at City Park. The route goes west to Lakewood and then turns back around.

Runners got a scenic view of the city on the rainy morning. It was the sixth annual Colfax Marathon, which is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

Participants could run the full or half marathon, or the five person relay.

"It was very cold, I was in a relay, so I did the fifth leg, so I got to wake up and have a cup of coffee and take my time getting here, unlike my teammates who were up at 6 a.m. in the rain," runner Kristen Caudle said.

The Colfax Marathon was established by the cities of Aurora, Denver and Lakewood to encourage Coloradans to be healthier.
