Fallen Police Officers Honored
DENVER (CBS4)- Fellow Denver police officers, friends and family gathered in the rain to remember fallen law officers on Wednesday. The annual memorial service took place at the Denver County Jail.
Four Denver deputies have died in the line of duty since 1974. They were remembered as heroes who put the safety of their community before their own.
"We do this to honor the fallen, but also to remind the community that we serve of the dangers that are inherent in law enforcement work," said Capt. Frank Gale with the Denver Sheriff's Office.
The ceremony is always held close to the annual National Police Officer Memorial Day on May 15.
