Smoke Sends United Express Flight Back To Denver
DENVER (AP) ― A regional jet headed to Grand Junction turned around and returned to Denver after reports of smoke in the cockpit.
United Express spokesman Jarek Beem said there was no fire, but firefighters were ready to respond when the Embraer 145 landed safely Friday afternoon at Denver International Airport. He says maintenance crews are trying to determine what the problem was, and the 26 passengers were taken care of.
It wasn't clear if a new plane was used to fly the passengers to Grand Junction. The flight originally departed for Grand Junction at 3:40 p.m. and returned to the Denver airport at 4:19.
