CU Sues Toilet Paper Company Over Faulty Paper

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The University of Colorado at Boulder is two companies for what it claims was defective toilet paper that clogged the campus's sewage systems.

The Daily Camera reported Wednesday that the university's Board of Regents filed a lawsuit last week in Boulder County District Court against San Diego-based Waxie Enterprises Inc. and Phoenix-based Royal Paper Converting Inc.

University officials said they had to spend more than $40,000 on plumbing contractors to deal with clogged toilets and plumbing lines in 2009. They say they began investigating after noticing that an increasing number of toilets were overflowing bathrooms.

The university is seeking $40,000 to cover its costs.

Waxie officials told the Camera they were unaware of the allegations and lawsuit and declined to comment further.
