La Nina Weather Pattern Equals Higher Wildfire Risk This Summer
DENVER (CBS4)- The National Interagency Fire Center said a strong La Nina weather pattern will mean a higher wildfire risk this summer in certain states.
The center specifically lists Eastern Colorado, Texas, Western Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona as areas likely to have an earlier and busier wildfire season.
The same La Nina pattern means most of the Pacific Coast got above average rain and snow this winter. Those areas have a much lower than normal fire risk.
