LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) – The Archdiocese of Denver confirms that a fundraiser for a couple facing charges of child abuse has been canceled.
The cancelation comes after CBS4 got complaints about the fundraiser from viewers.
Steven and Edelwina Leschinsky are charged with felony child abuse and contributing to delinquency of a minor. They are accused of forcing their three adopted daughters from Russia to perform extreme exercise as punishment, including push-ups over a board full of nails.
The Knights of Columbus in Loveland and the Saint John’s Church in Johnstown had advertised they would hold a fundraiser for the parents.
On Friday the archdiocese would only confirm that fundraiser had been canceled and said there is no further information about it.
