Stock Show Debating Move East Of Denver

DENVER (AP) -- National Western Stock Show officials are considering a move from their longtime Denver location to a site east of the city near the airport.

The Denver Post reported Thursday the location under review is about 13 miles east of the current site north of downtown.

The new location would be developed in conjunction with Gaylord Entertainment Co. The Tennessee-based company plans to build a Western-themed hotel and entertainment plaza just south of the site of the proposed stock show complex.

Stock show President Paul Andrews says no decision has been made about a move.

Andrews says it would cost approximately $300 million to build a new facility and about $400 million to redevelop the existing one.

The 105th running of the show in January drew attendance of nearly 645,000 people.
