The Denver district attorney's office says 24-year-old William Lornes was also charged Thursday with aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He's due in Denver County Court May 12.

Lornes is suspected of robbing a woman at Denver's Cherry Creek Mall on April 13 and forcing her into her car's trunk. Police say the woman escaped a few blocks away.

"Emotionally we suspect it will take some time for her to recover, but we're giving her all the time she needs and making sure she has services to help her through the trauma that she's endured," said Nick LeMasters, Cherry Creek Shopping Center General Manager.

Lornes is also suspected of fatally shooting 73-year-old Gerald Schwartzman of Denver the same day and dumping his body in a trash bin. He's being held in the Jefferson County jail.
