Some Fire Bans Lifted, Fourmile Cleanup Deadline Looms

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Recent wet weather means more fire bans were lifted across Colorado.

The city of Golden, Larimer County and the Arapahoe and Roosevelt national forests all canceled their fire restrictions on Tuesday. But all those agencies are still warning people to be careful with fire.

The deadline to clean up from the Fourmile fire is right around the corner. Homeowners have until May 2 to clean up any burned debris from their properties. Boulder County says it's worried that a strong thunderstorm could not only wash away the scorched soil, but leftover debris as well.

An executive order from Gov. John Hickenlooper will allow the county to come in and remove anything still left after the deadline.

The Fourmile fire burned more than 6,000 acres and destroyed 169 homes in September of last year.
