LARKSPUR, Colo. (CBS4) – Investigators will be on the scene Tuesday where fire tore through a mansion in Larkspur.

It took crews hours to extinguish the flames on Monday. By the time the flames were gone, so was the 7,000 square foot house and everything inside.

The blaze started at about 3:30 p.m. on Spruce Mountain Road and the smoke could be seen for miles.

Crews from eight different fire departments worked to put out blaze.

Firefighters say the homeowners spent last two years remodeling home and moved in only four months ago.

No people were home when the fire started. A dog was inside and was rescued safely.
