Well-Known Sculpture Beheaded In Silt

SILT, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in western Colorado are trying to figure out if vandals damaged a well-known piece of art in the town of Silt.

The sculpture features a naked man climbing a mountain, but sometime this week someone knocked off his head. Police aren't sure if it was intentional or if someone was trying to climb the rock and damaged it accidentally.

Investigators have dusted the sculpture for fingerprints and are looking for other clues.

"We are attempting to get some fingerprints and we also have some video surveillance from the local gas stations," a Silt police officer told CBS4.

The sculptor plans to fix the head over the weekend. The piece has been the subject of pranks and jokes ever since it went up with some people putting shorts and swimsuits on the bare behind.
