Wildfire Scorches About 100 Acres In Morgan County

FORT MORGAN, Colo. (AP) - A wildfire northwest of Fort Morgan prompted the precautionary evacuation of three homes and scorched about 100 acres before crews were able to stop its advance.

Morgan County Commissioner Brian McCracken says the fire was 70 percent contained at 5 p.m. Sunday, about five hours after the fire was reported. Residents have been allowed to return home. McCracken says fire crews from five agencies responded to the fire.

McCracken says a fire being used by a cleaning crew to clear debris along Muir Springs about five miles northwest of Fort Morgan got out of control as winds kicked up.

No structures were damaged. No injuries were reported.
