Man Finds Pipe Bomb In His Yard In Golden

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police rushed to the scene to investigate a suspicious device in Golden Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the 500 block of 15th Street at about 10:30 a.m. When police arrived on the scene they found a pipe bomb. Rolls of crime tape shut down the Golden neighborhood after it was placed under a bomb threat.

"It's not something you want to come home to," Golden resident Tess Nottoli said.

Police were called there after a man found the pipe bomb in his back yard. A bomb squad went in to detonate the device and it was disarmed without any incident.

"The person who found it, he knows what he's doing, he works for a fire department," neighbor Traci Vase said.

The man who found the device declined to talk about his shocking discovery. Police have begun a full investigation into the bomb. They've already conducted several interviews. Residents don't know what to think, but they say they doubt any of their neighbors would have placed an explosive there.

"Kind of a surprise, something to give the neighbors something to talk about for the next month," a resident said.
