Some Details Being Kept Secret In Double Murder Case

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators are being careful not to release too many details after the announcement on Thursday of the arrests of three people in a double murder case.

For police the case of the has been full of twists and turns. For those who knew the victims it has been an unbelievable nightmare.

Tiffany Durst, 21, and Terrence George, 22, were your typical young couple. They met at a McDonald's and proceeded for fall in love and get engaged. Co-workers say they thought they'd be helping to plan a wedding about now. Instead, they are preparing for Durst's funeral.

It was a co-worker who found George shot to death in the couple's apartment last November. At the time it appeared that Durst had disappeared and police weren't sure if she was a victim or a suspect.

"We had no idea where Tiffany was so she was immediately listed as a person of interest," Aurora Detective Bob Friel told CBS4.

Friel says it wasn't until they recovered evidence at the couple's apartment and in Durst's car, which turned up in January, that it became clear she, too, was in danger.

"As time went on we became more and more concerned as to her welfare," Friel said.

Then, last week, Durst's body was found in a Cherry Creek spillway. Within days police picked up Terrence McNeal, 20, Janelle Harris, 20, and Tiera Homes, 19, and charged them in the couple's murder. So far investigators are not releasing their pictures and they also have sealed their arrest affadavit.

It's unclear so far what the motive for the killings may have been.

"As far as what relationships were between suspects and Terrence and Tiffany its not something I can discuss," Friel said.

While the arrest affadavits are sealed, CBS4 located the arrest records of the three suspects. It appears that based on the charges the three suspects they stole Durst's car, kidnapped her, sexually assaulted her and then killed her.

An autopsy is under way to determine exactly how Durst died.

McNeal, 20, Harris, 20, and Homes, 19, are being held without bond on two counts of first degree murder.
