Colorado Hoops Coach Charged With Child Sex Assault

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP/CBS4) -- A girls' high school basketball coach has been charged with sexually assaulting two female students at the suburban Denver high school where he worked.

The Jefferson County district attorney's office said Wesley Adam Specht, 26, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust. One count of sexual assault of a child when the victim is under 15 was added Thursday.

Specht was arrested last week on allegations of inappropriate relationships with female students at Alameda High School. Three school district employees were placed on paid administrative leave while officials investigated whether they knew about the relationships. Officials say one has returned to the job.

Specht is being held in jail on a $10,000 bond.

Specht had been under contract for the past year with the Colorado Kings basketball team, a pro team in Aurora. Durrell Middleton, the owner of the team, told CBS4 the charges are disturbing.

"I know Wesley to be a Christian, a spiritual man. I know he's from a solid family who are also Christians. So when I heard the news, I was shocked," Middleton said.
