Teen Charged As Adult In Great-Grandparents' Death

HUGO, Colo. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder after deliberation in the March 30 shooting deaths of his great-grandparents in the small town of Hugo.

The Denver Post reports the charges against Greg Smith were filed Thursday. He's being held without bail at a youth detention center in the Denver suburb of Englewood.

He's charged with killing 80-year-old Chuck Clagett and 82-year-old Laura Clagett, who were found dead in their home on March 30.

The teen lived with the Clagetts. Their bodies were found when Lincoln County sheriff's deputies went to tell them the teen had been hurt in a car crash.

Investigators believe the couple were killed March 27.

The teen hasn't entered a plea and it wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
