Climber Recovering After Fall From Boulder Flatirons

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A climber is recovering Thursday after falling more than 20 feet from the Boulder Flatirons.

Alex Babowic, 29, fell from the east side of the 1st Flatiron while climbing with friends at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday. Babowic is from Delaware.

It took members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group four hours to get him off the trail. He was about a mile and a half above Blue Bird Shelter near Chautauqua Park.

Babowic suffered moderate to serious injuries including a low back injury. He was airlifted to a Denver hospital. His condition is unknown.

Deputies said he is an experienced climber and was wearing full safety gear, including a helmet.
