Two Found Dead Inside Hugo Home

HUGO, Colo. (CBS4)- Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents are working with Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies in Hugo on a double homicide. Two adults, a man and a woman, were found dead inside a home in the small community Wednesday afternoon.

The bodies were discovered when deputies tried to contact the residents at 42867 County Road 29 in Hugo.

Deputies went to the home to inform the residents that a teenager, who lived at that address, had been injured in a rollover accident.

Colorado State Patrol rushed to the scene of a Ford pickup truck that had rolled over at about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday on Lincoln County Road 2W east of Lincoln County Road 26 near Hugo.

Troopers found the driver, a 16-year old boy, had been injured in the rollover. He was airlifted to a Denver hospital for treatment.

When deputies tried to notify the teen's family that he had been injured in a crash, they discovered the bodies. How the pair died and when they were killed is being investigated.

"The scene is pretty tragic. Lincoln County, we don't have a lot of homicides. This has been a tragic month for us with an officer shot, an accident a few days ago killing a local lady and now we've got a double homicide that we're investigating. It's very tragic, uncommon for this area," said Lincoln County Sheriff Tom Nestor.

The identities of those found dead have not been released, as well as the relationship they may have to the teen. Authorities said the teens grandparents lived in the home.

The CBI is assisting the Lincoln County Sheriff with the investigation. They believe there is no threat to the community.

The 16-year-old driver remains hospitalized and is expected to recover from injuries suffered in the crash.

Hugo is a town of about 800 people located about 100 miles southeast of Denver.
