Grand Junction Police, FBI Mum On Colorado River Search
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Grand Junction police aren't saying much about what they hoped to find in a search of the Colorado River that involved divers from the FBI.
The Daily Sentinel reports about a dozen officers including city police, Mesa County sheriff's deputies and the divers, were in the river for at least a couple of hours Monday. They searched near the Orchard Mesa pedestrian bridge.
Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says the activity was prompted by a development in a case police have been working on "for a while." She wouldn't give details.
FBI spokesman Dave Joly acknowledged the agency's involvement but declined further comment.
