Trial Begins For Boyfriend Of Slain Greeley Girl

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Testimony has begun in the trial of a 19-year-old man accused of having sex with a 12-year-old Greeley girl who was later found dead.

Attorneys made their opening arguments Tuesday in the sexual assault trial of Robert Montoya. He is charged with sexually assaulting 12-year-old Kayleah Wilson.

Kayleah disappeared last March and her body was found in a drainage ditch nearly two months after she was reported missing. Her slaying remains unsolved.

The Greeley Tribune reports that attorneys on both sides steered clear of discussing Kayleah's death.

Police say they learned of Montoya's relationship with Kayleah while investigating her disappearance. They say the relationship started when Montoya was 17 and lasted a month after he turned 18.
