Pennsylvania Teen Dies Skiing At Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) - An 18-year-old from the Pittsburgh area has died after hitting a tree while skiing at the Beaver Creek ski area in western Colorado.

Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis said Richard Cullinan Jr. died after crashing on a slope Monday. She says other people saw Cullinan catch the edge of his ski and slide into a tree.

Cullinan was taken to a Vail hospital, where he died. Bettis says he died from head trauma.

Cullinan was wearing a helmet while he was skiing.

The Vail Daily reports that Cullinan was a student at Fox Chapel Area High School near Pittsburgh.
