Colorado's Japanese Community Worried About Family After Earthquake

DENVER (CBS4)- Members of the Japanese community in Colorado have been trying to find out if loved ones back home are safe in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami.

Employees at the Japanese Consulate in Denver watched the devastating images on television in the aftermath of Japan's biggest earthquake ever recorded, the fifth largest earthquake in the world since 1900.

Yasue is scheduled to fly to Japan in three days to help her pregnant daughter when her grandson arrives. She said she is nervous about traveling there now.

"Oh, very much so. No transportation from the airport," said Yasue.

All 14 students from the University of Colorado in Japan have been accounted for. CSU also said all of their students are safe.
